Some Tips to Overcome Feeling Scared to Horror Movie

Why should say "No, Thank You!" to Horror Movie ?

What is your purpose when decided to watch a movie? Of course there are many possible to answer it, but it can be concluded into an answer, that is a satisfaction. But, what will you do if you just get a sense of scared and no satisfaction? Some people get that feeling when watching horror movie. They had a fabulous fear including a trouble to sleep. In this case, there is no way than avoid all horror movies. But, what will you do if you can not avoid it and had to watch it for some reasons? I do not mean to patronize, because I also have a bit scared to horror movie and have experienced no sleep for a day because of The Conjuring. But, I just wanted to share some tips that I do to solve it. These are some tips for you :

  1. Choose a right time to watch. Watching a horror movie in the morning and afternoon is the right choose for those who are scared horror movies. Don't watch horror movie at night because it will add a creepy atmosphere. A long interval between time to watch and time to sleep at night, gives an opportunity to us forget a lot of scary things. We would be easier to sleep.
  2. Find some reviews for movie that will be watched. If you have enough time before watching, try to find some reviews about the movie that will be watched. This will reduce the suspense, fear and shock of you because already knew the story before.
  3. Choose a right seat. Choose a seat near friends who are not afraid and not easily shocked while watching. They will make you more comfort. Sitting near friends who are afraid and easily shocked will further add to your fear. They will shout too much more devastating and shocking than movie.
  4. Try to be active on thinking and guessing the storyline. If you only know a little or do not know anything about the movie being watched, try to guess the story. It would be better, if you take part in guessing when a creepy figure will be appeared. If you guess correctly, you certainly would not be shocked anymore.
  5. It's just a movie. Always remember that what you see is just a movie. A creepy figure in the movie is also a human, like you. But, their appearence has been changed by a set of make-up and costumes.

  6. Bring anything that makes you comfort. Bring your gadget, candy, water, snack, tissue, jacket or anything if it can make you comfort. It can divert your attention for a moment from screen when you started to feel scared. But do not let what you bring disturb another people.
  7. Try to avoid restroom while watching. If you are easily to pee, a restroom is a place that you should avoid while watching horror movie. You certainly do not want to go restroom alone when feeling scared. Please go to restroom first before watching and avoid drinking too much while watching.
  8. Try too add the frequency of watching horror movie. Slowly but sure, it will make you getting familiar with all of things in horror movie. Based on my experience, horror movies are not too scary as our mind or other people said. 
  9. Be honest to your partner. If the eight ways that I have mentioned before does not help. It's time to you should be honest to your partner. So, they will think twice to invite you watch a horror movie.

Those are some tips from me, hopefully it can help reduce your scared watching horror movies.
