It is certainly that almost all movie lovers will not miss Despicable Me 2. Some of them have to wait longer before the film was released. I actually included that missed out because when this movie was released, I've never watched Despicable Me 1. So I chose to watch it first and watched Despicable Me 2 just a few days ago. Back to Despicable Me 2, the film still comes with the same main character, such as Dr. Gru (Steve Carell), three adopted children (Margo, Edith and Agnez), Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) and of course the most adorable, Minion.
Told in this sequel, Dr. Gru in Despicable Me 1 is known as top villain who had stolen the moon, had repented and become a good person. He lives happily with Margo, Edith and Agnez.

Dr. Gru with his friend and partner, Dr. Nefario and Minion, opened the jam an jelly factory. Dr. Nefario help Dr. Gru doing research to create the recipes, but the research has always failed. He feels uncomfortable with the profession at this time. He was not challenged. He misses for evil as he formerly did with Dr. Gru. He eventually resigned and left Dr. Gru.
In the meantime, a crime occurs in a laboratory. A giant magnet has been sucking up all the lab building and took it away. Unfortunately, at the time it happened, the laboratory is conducting research involving very powerful mutagen substances, known as PX-41. PX-41 can change everything that life has become looked horrible and have great destructive capabilities.
The Anti Villain League (AVL), an anti-crime organization, has sent a female agent, Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) to bring Dr. Gru to headquarters. AVL leader asks Dr. Gru to join with AVL and catch the thief PX-41. Base on AVL detection tool, the position PX-41 is currently in a mall, Paradise Shopping Mall. Dr. Gru accepted the offer and began an investigation at the mall with Lucy. They pretend to manage a bakery shop, Bake My Day and investigate all shop owner in the mall.
Dr. Gru friend, Jillian, tried introduce him to women. Jillian, Margo, Edith and Agnez feel it is time for Dr. Gru to have a partner for life., especially Agnez who really want to have a new mother. But Dr. Gru always refused it, a bitter childhood experiences have made him shut out for the presence of a woman.
Back to the mission to find the thieves of PX-41, the owner os Salsa Y Salsa restaurant, named Eduardo (Benjamin Bratt), came to Bake My Day and order cake for his party. At that moment, Dr. Gru instantly remembered with a great villain called El Macho. Eduardo looks very similar with El Macho. Dr. Gru believes that Eduardo has stolen the PX-41. At that night, Dr. Gru and Lucy get into Salsa Y Salsa to find PX-41, but they did not find anything.
In the meantime, unbeknownst Dr. Gru, many Minions is missing. They were kidnapped when outside the home with an ice cream van. They taken to a place and injected PX-41. They turn out to be very malicious, has a scary face and change color to purple.
Despicable Me 2 tried to offer something different from the first. Some of them are three adopted children is not overly dominate the story as before and the Minion who become antagonist character. The presence of Lucy as a secret agent who has skill using some advanced tools and very nimble, made Despicable Me look different. To offset Lucy, Dr. Gru also shown a bit more nimble, like agent 007 in Bond films. The love story Dr. Gru to his children in Despicable Me 1 was replaced by love story of Dr. Gru. Despicable Me 2 successfully brought something different than before.
Unfortunately, the dialogue and scenes that performed by Minion on Despicable Me 2 is less intereting and less entertaining than before. They just looked funny when singing a few songs like In the Summertime and I Swear with Minion language. While Agnez, never make me disappointed. Agnez still comes with innocence and adorable smile. Some of the dialogue is also very touching. I still love Agnez in Despicable Me 1 and 2.

One more thing that is lacking in Despicable Me 2 is about the story. In my opinion, the main story of Despicable Me 2 is on the love story of Dr. Gru. I said this because that's dominated throughout the story. PX-41 criminal cases were seen only as a distraction. The love story of Dr. Gru is also told with a very dull and predictable. It would be more interesting if the main story lies in the criminal case PX-41, so that the climax could be made more than now exists. Final resolution of crime PX-41 is also to easy and impressed in a hurry.
But anyway, Despicable Me 2 is still entertaining and able to treat the fans longing for Minion., especially the children. It can be understood if the fans are looking forward for this movie, considering the success of Despicable Me 1 and long time range, which is 3 years since Despicable Me 1 was released in 2010.
