Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) on IMDb
At this time, I am fond of horror movies. I do not know why, but after watching The Conjuring, I want to add the frequency of watching horror movies. Although The Conjuring that directed by James Wan is not included in the list of favorites on this blog, but the spooky scenes and a surprising one in the film was able to make me unable to sleep one night because imagined the scene. Now, James Wan re-work on horror track, with Insidious 2, which is a sequel of Insidious 1. Because I've been watching Insidious 1, of course I would not miss this film, I also wonder if James Wan will repeat the success of The Conjuring
Finally several days ago, I watched Insidious 2. For those who have never watched Insidious 1, I highly recommend to you to watch it before. You can also read my review on http://www.reviewcinema.com/2013/08/insidious-2010.html. I suggest this because Insidious 2 continues the previous story. The plots are also quite complex and often jump from Insidious 2 to Insidious 1. In a fact, I have watched Insidious 1, but still have a little confused with the plots of Insidious 2.

Insidious 2 is still raised the same topic with Insidious 1, which is about the supernatural abilities in some people who can release the spirit from the body while sleeping. Some of spirit can go back but there are also lost because left too far from the body. The devil, who knows it, is trying to get into the empty body for evil.

Although have a same topic, but the conflict and the resolution made more difficult and complex. In this sequel, the empty body is controlled by an evil spirit, the forces of evil in this sequel much more powerful than before. If in the Insidious 1, the rescue goes more easily with the help of a paranormal, Elise, but in this sequel, Elise can not help much because she was dead.

A ghost behind Josh
In Insidious 2, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and the whole family moved to Lorraine's house (Josh's mother). They want to start a new life, but the main reason is because of the police inspection for the death of Elise. Josh's wife, Renai (Rose Byrne) find Elise dead suffocated in her living room after helping bring back the spirit of Dalton. When it happened, Elise was in the living room with Josh. Josh became a suspect for the murder of Elise, but Renai does not believe that Josh had been killed Elise. Renai more convinced after seeing something horrible from the camera. Renai also flet there was something strange about Josh.

In Lorraine's house, they still get the strange experience and terrible things, like piano voice and strollers are lit at midnight. Renai, Lorraine and Dalton also saw the figure of a woman, dressed in white in the house and hear many strange sounds. Dalton also got to see Josh was talking by himself.

Lorraine went to Specs, Tucker and Carl, who has the ability like Elise. Carl tries to communicate with Elise through his dice. They get a few words from the dice that lead to places that are a clue about what is being experienced by the family of Josh. The places are the past when Josh was a child. They finally found out that Josh has been controlled by evil spirits who want to kill all the Josh family.

In my opinion, Insidious 2 is better than its prequel, though not able to match the success of The Conjuring. A granny ghost in Insidious 1 still be found in this sequel. The good news for me is there is no longer a ghost with thick make up and tacky costumes like ghosts with the red faced in Insidious 1. The costumes and make up in Insidious 2 is more reasonable and natural, though in fact I don't like the ghostly scream 'DON'T YOU DARE!!!'. I prefer the silent ghost which is not chased the target. But if it is necessary, I prefer ghost was doing the action by first pervaded the human body. Besides that, I really appreciate the effort of James Wan to make Insidious 2 better than before.

DON'T YOU DARE !!!

From the side of the story, as I've mentioned before, the story is more complex and less complicated. You have to watch Insidious 1 first because it will make it easier to understand Insidious 2. James Wan added a bit of the background story of psychological terror, so Insidious 2 is not just a scary horror movie. He also put some new characters that appear in this film, making the red yarn so it become a continuation of Insidious 1. It's very interesting and worth for thumbs up.

Some scary tricks presented by a director also look fresh and not repeat from previous horror films. He uses some properties such as strollers and dice as a terror disseminator. One of my favorite scenes is when Carl tried to guess what was in the hands of Josh with dice. The effort to create an atmosphere and setting to support the story but still look fresh also arguably successful, such as a bed room with a rocking horse, a hospital and an elevator. In this sequel, Wan did a lot of exploration and don't want to just get stuck in the house, a good effort.

I hate this part, but it must be recognized, this is a quote that will always be remembered

The end of Insidious 2 is also not float, all conflicts resolved properly, although there will be a sequel, Insidious 3. Wan tried to convey the presence of Insidious 3 with the other way and not monotonous. Let's wait for the presence of Insidious 3.
